A short Wednesday that does not start until nearly midnight and then commits entirely to one narrow thing. Ninety minutes of dissonant death metal, the atonal, cavernous, disorienting end of the genre, Ulcerate and Artificial Brain and Gorguts and Blood Incantation churning through music built to feel like vertigo rather than force. It is the mirror of the crust hour ten days back: the same single-mindedness, the opposite temperature, the blunt and fast traded for the abstract and slow. Nothing here resolves or repeats, it just keeps folding in on itself, one collapsing structure after another. He picked the most disorienting corner of death metal and sat inside it until one in the morning, alone with the sound of everything coming apart.
